BEST DOWN JACKET OUT THERE
As a serial researcher and gear junkie, I set out to find the all-around best light-weight, packable, durable, and warm (mid - outer layer) down jacket on the market. And hands down THIS IS IT! Himali has made a jacket that is warmer (4.5oz of 850 fill down vs 3.7oz), more durable (20 denier fabric vs 10D), and more weather resistant (Hydrophobic down treatment vs not) than the Arc'teryx Cerium LT—in my opinion the most comparable and 2nd best jacket out there—while maintaining similar overall weight and packability. This jacket has become my go to for my fall/winter alpine adventures as it can disappear in my pack, keeps me super warm, can fit under a shell, and at appx 10ish oz is light enough to be taken anywhere, even when shedding weight is a top priority. It's also proven to be a great around-town jacket as well! There are a lot of respectable copanies making great jackets out there—I researched them all before landing on this one—but none that carry better overall specs (including the price-point!). One thing to note, the fit on this jacket runs a bit small. At 6'2, 195lbs I'm usually a large in Arc'teryx/TNF/Rab apparel, but an XL in this Jacket ended up fitting like a charm.
